A messenger without a phone number
Most messengers start with your phone number: you cannot even create an account without one. Orbeo starts with a short name you pick — your Orbeo ID — and nothing else.
How signing up works
You pick an Orbeo ID (for example anna_k), a display name and an access code. That is the whole account. No SMS, no email confirmation, no phone book upload. It takes about a minute, in the browser at web.orbeo.me or in the app.
Instead of an email for password recovery, you get a recovery phrase of twelve words, shown once. Keep it somewhere safe: it is the only way back into the account if you forget the access code.
Who can find you
Only people you give your Orbeo ID or your link to. Orbeo does not read your contacts and does not suggest you to anyone who happens to have your number — because it does not know your number.
What you get
- Private chats and groups: replies, editing and deleting for both sides, reactions, read receipts.
- Photos, videos, files and voice messages.
- Voice and video calls in the apps.
- Channels — one-way feeds you can subscribe to.
- 196 built-in stickers, chat wallpapers, your own message sounds.
- Russian, English and Kazakh interface.
It works in the browser, on Android, iPhone, Mac and Windows. Free, no ads.
What Orbeo is not
Orbeo does not have end-to-end encryption. The connection is encrypted, but messages are stored on the server in a readable form — that is how they reach your second device. Orbeo does not ask who you are, but it is not a tool for secrets that must be hidden from the service itself. For that, use a messenger built for it. Details are in the privacy policy.
